Spring!

It's here!
Spring!
We made it through another winter,
And now, 6 months of Spring and Summer will follow.
My favourite time of the year.

A change

After a year with this laptop skin,
I decided I was over the green,
it was starting my make me feel dreary,
and I wanted something fresh to suit my 'it's soon to be spring and summer' mood,
and inspire me to work.

And so I ordered a new cover from Society6, and within a week it was here.
I love it.
Now I feel like working, and even when the sky is grey outside my window,
I can see blue sky and pink blossoms.

So much to love

There is so much in this world to love...
and the first Spring blossoms are high on that list.
I love that for a few weeks mid Winter I get to watch out for them...
the anticipation of knowing that soon...
soon we will see the pink against the blue sky.
And then my heart skips a beat when one morning, magically they have appeared.
Bringing with them is the gorgeousness of the blossom,
and the anticipation that soon, oh so soon,
Spring will be here, and Winter will, once again, be gone.

It seems I have passed on this love to my little loves,
who now excitedly tell me when they have spotted new blossoming trees.
Last week, Annabel suggested we stop to take photos of them.
And that, makes me so very happy.

The pale blues

If you follow me over on facebook
you will have seen I posted this group of photos as photo blocks a couple of weeks ago.
It is my new favourite set, titled 'the pale blues',
with a coastal theme and two Queen Anne's Lace from the country just to spice it up.
I have been re-arranging my studio room, and was contemplating painting the walls pale blue or grey.
But really, this is the one room I want to keep all white -
slowly blue tones have been creeping into evey room we alter.
So instead, I am going to order 'the pale blues' in 8x8",
and hang them on one wall, to add my touch of pale blue to this space.

And while I have been sitting here, with the rainy grey sky as my view, I have started to daydream of Spring.
It's not long to go....really.....

I just can't get enough....

...of the Spring blossoms.

Tuesday, September 6, 2011

Oh how I do love you Spring....

I love wandering the streets in the spring, with the warmth of the sun slowly erasing the cold of winter,
with every sense tuned into spring....the blossoms, the birds, the blue sky.

It really does feel like an awakening, doesn't it?

To Help Japan

I have been struggling to comprehend what is going on in the world at the moment. I have come to the conclusion that we have to do what we can to help, and we also owe it to all those that lost their lives in Christchurch and Japan to live our lives to the fullest, every single moment of every single day.

{Hello You}

While all proceeds from all sales for the month of March from both my Etsy and Felt shops are being donated to Christchurch, I have decided that all proceeds from the spring blossom photos and photo blocks in Etsy will be donated to the Japan Red Cross appeal. Listings can be viewed in my Etsy shop by searching 'Japan'.

Under the pale grey blue sky

I don't recall blossoms lasting so long, didn't the trees all used to bloom in about 2 weeks and we'd enjoy colour after so many months of grey and then all the trees would be green and ready for summer?

It is amazing with all this random weather we have been having - a few days of sun followed by days of cold rain and wind - the blossoms are hanging on fiercely......I see what looks like snow flakes dancing and swirling across the road, and realise they are blossom petals.....I see a tree that blossomed in August full of fresh green leaves...and then right beside it a tree with new pink, purple and white blossoms.....whatever is making these trees bloom so randomly I don't know but I am loving it as it means I am still enjoying so much spring - even with a pale blue grey sky background......
