The Summer Garden

I have a confession.
I have hardly had the camera out this summer.
It's been nice to just enjoy what is going on in our daily lives.

Or it could also be because I have only 2 polaroids left and I am saving it for something special
 (I don't know what that is, it will have to be something really special to be worthy of my last 2 polaroids).

Or it could be that I have been lulled into a sense of 'we have ages to go before the end of summer'...and now I have realised that all these pretty summer flowers will soon be gone...

whatever the reason behind it,
I am now back with camera in hand....
capturing moments of summer while I can....

Under the pale grey blue sky

I don't recall blossoms lasting so long, didn't the trees all used to bloom in about 2 weeks and we'd enjoy colour after so many months of grey and then all the trees would be green and ready for summer?

It is amazing with all this random weather we have been having - a few days of sun followed by days of cold rain and wind - the blossoms are hanging on fiercely......I see what looks like snow flakes dancing and swirling across the road, and realise they are blossom petals.....I see a tree that blossomed in August full of fresh green leaves...and then right beside it a tree with new pink, purple and white blossoms.....whatever is making these trees bloom so randomly I don't know but I am loving it as it means I am still enjoying so much spring - even with a pale blue grey sky background......

By the Light of the Moon...

This is the next mini series of photos in the 'Winter and the Birds' series - from top 'The Arrival', 'Three's a Crowd', and 'The Gathering'.

  Available as a set of 3, this one is titled 'By the light of the moon'.
Oh, and by the way....today was the perfect spring day - nothing but blue sky and sunshine!  Thought I better get these winter birds posted before it is too warm to look at such wintery skies!

Once upon a daydream....

{once upon a daydream...i dreamt of Venice...}
Once upon a daydream.....a long long time ago....I travelled in Italy, and I left a piece of my heart there...and I always knew that one day I would go back to live for a while with my future husband and children....and no I am not about to tell you we are headed to Italy...but I have been thinking a lot about this dream and how much I would love to take a suitcase full of polaroid film and spend a year under the magical Italian sun with my beautiful family.....

{once upon a daydream...i dreamt of Florence...}
In the meantime while on our trip home to New Zealand last month I located my undeveloped films from my Europe travelling days.....they were deep in the bottom of a box at the back of the garage and yesterday I picked up from the lab the first set of prints.....I have 21 more rolls to develop...yes that's right, 21.  From Italy, France, the Greek Islands, Portugal, Germany, the Canary Islands, and probably some other places I can't remember.  I was too poor when I got back to London, then home to New Zealand, to develop them, and life moved on....

Every once in a while I will develop a roll of film ~ I plan on savouring the anticipation of what each film will reveal ~ and I will add a few "once upon a daydream" photos to this space from lands far far away for a trip down daydream lane......will you join me?

I dream of sunshine

{I dream of sunshine}

{sisters}
It's grey and cold today, but I don't mind as it's Friday.  I have a quiet house, a perfect time to look through unscanned polaroids...I love discovering polaroids I had filed away for a grey day.  I layered these 2 with textures for a different look to the other butterflies in the series.  I quite like them.  What do you think?

It's still quiet....I think I might even sneak in a cup of tea and a piece of gingerbread before they wake.......

Happy Friday!

Beach and textures

{morning light}

{under the blue sky}

It's been a while since I played with textures, I've been so obsessed with polaroids and other projects.
I have missed this part of the creative process.  Working with these Port Fairy beach photos makes me think a trip to the beach is on the cards this weekend.....
