Spring!

It's here!
Spring!
We made it through another winter,
And now, 6 months of Spring and Summer will follow.
My favourite time of the year.

White Blossoms

Today's blossom.
There will be more,
as each day we go on a blossom hunt.
It really is one of my favourite times of the year.

Spring is in the air

Absolutely swooning over these magnolias.
Everywhere we turn there are blossoms.
Spring has arrived early,
and I am loving it!

First Spring Weekend

This past weekend, the first weekend in Spring
we decided it had to be celebrated with an Adventure.
So we set off to the city
soaked up the city buzz,
played at some new playgrounds,
and then explored at the beach.

Even though it was still a little cold,
{hence the hats, jackets and winter boots}
they both asked if they could go swimming.
To them, Spring means warm weather
and warm weather means Summer
and Summer at the beach means swimming.
Soon, I said, oh so soon......

A change

After a year with this laptop skin,
I decided I was over the green,
it was starting my make me feel dreary,
and I wanted something fresh to suit my 'it's soon to be spring and summer' mood,
and inspire me to work.

And so I ordered a new cover from Society6, and within a week it was here.
I love it.
Now I feel like working, and even when the sky is grey outside my window,
I can see blue sky and pink blossoms.

I just can't get enough....

...of the Spring blossoms.

Oh how I do love you Spring....

I love wandering the streets in the spring, with the warmth of the sun slowly erasing the cold of winter,
with every sense tuned into spring....the blossoms, the birds, the blue sky.

It really does feel like an awakening, doesn't it?

Under the pale grey blue sky

I don't recall blossoms lasting so long, didn't the trees all used to bloom in about 2 weeks and we'd enjoy colour after so many months of grey and then all the trees would be green and ready for summer?

It is amazing with all this random weather we have been having - a few days of sun followed by days of cold rain and wind - the blossoms are hanging on fiercely......I see what looks like snow flakes dancing and swirling across the road, and realise they are blossom petals.....I see a tree that blossomed in August full of fresh green leaves...and then right beside it a tree with new pink, purple and white blossoms.....whatever is making these trees bloom so randomly I don't know but I am loving it as it means I am still enjoying so much spring - even with a pale blue grey sky background......

The Ladybird

...can you remember a time when the most magical thing was finding a ladybird?

The Storyteller

 Meet Olive.
Olive is my Granny's typewriter - a vintage Italian Olivetti Lettera.
My Granny is 92.  She still uses her typewriter to write her letters.
Olive is more than 50 years old.
Actually, you've already met Olive - in my last post.
I have borrowed Olive for my next series - The Storyteller....
based around Polaroid, vintage typewriters and daydreams.
I have another typewriter to introduce to you soon....

My very best friend

It's Friday, the sun is shining, the sky is blue, it's not getting dark until just after 6pm, today I drove with the car windows down and ate my lunch in the sun with bare feet in the grass!  Everywhere I go I see signs of Spring....this year I am loving the magnolias.  There is a huge magnolia tree right outside the front door here, and unlike the trees in town that are already blossoming, I can only see a peek of the most amazing deep purple flowers.  I imagine when they open, I will spend quite some time under that tree with my cameras.  Until then, I am stopping frequently on our trips into town.

I think Spring is, as Annabel would say, my very best friend.

Why hello there!

Would you have a look at what I have found!  On our house hunting adventures we discovered a street lined with blossom trees...and all are starting to peak out.  What a find!  I am supposed to be getting excited at houses we see, yet I must admit, I was more excited by these gorgoeus little blossoms.  We stopped and I stood underneath looking up with the sun on my face for a good few minutes, enjoying the view....pink blossoms, blue sky, a few lazy fluffy clouds....it was heaven.  Then it was back to the house hunting, me with a little spring in my step as I know that so very soon this cold winter will be over, and we will feel the sun on our faces and see blossoms in every street.   So thank you my little blossom friends, for it seems that about this time of the year you remind me that I really do need to feel the cold of winter to appreciate the delights of spring.

I heart Tuesdays

The first day of Spring! And on a Tuesday! Even though it's still a bit chilly outside, the grass smells a little sweeter, the flowers look a little brighter, and I feel like dancing. I love spring! Not that I wish time away, but all winter I look forward to this day. And it's here! Ahhhhh, soon there will be bbq dinners, breakfast outside every day, summer skirts and pretty summer sandals, swimming at the beach, melting ice cream.......everything feels so much sweeter today.

Cotton Candy...

I had planned on writing about the fantastic Sisters' Market I had a stall at on Saturday.....but today I just can't get enough of the cotton candy blossoms, and subsequently I have some decorating my kitchen table - perfect timing as we have a dinner date planned, just the two of us, once the kids are in bed....

Breathing Again...

It's that time of the year, when I can breathe again. The blossoms are starting to appear on the trees, and every day I find myself driving the longest route possible, winding our way through the neighbourhood streets, seeking blossoms. New ones are peeking out daily, and they speak to me. I know that sounds a little loopy, but I feel like we are sharing a secret - like they are saying "Hello, you! Breathe, relax, spring will be here oh so soon and the days will get longer, and the days will get warmer."

I love my secret conversations with the blossoms. They make me smile.
