I love where I live

On our way home from the city,
in the late dusk of the day,
we stopped at the top of the hill.
And took a moment to look at this view.
The colours breathtaking.
The sky endless.
The moon and first star out.
And down in that valley, is where we live.
The drive can be a real mission to get to all the city has to offer,
and to visit all of my best friends and their families,
but when we see views like this,
the drive is magical.
I really do love where I live.

{I posted this on instagram on Saturday,
but wanted to have it here as part of my 'blog journey'}

Oh my heart

I have been putting off writing this post, because I haven't been able to find the words.
The words to describe just what it feels like to see these magnificent balloons float in the sky,
to get up early, before sunrise, and feel the aniticipation in the air,
and then to see them - it is nothing short of breathtaking.

The first morning of the festival was one block from our house.
Oh, it was amazing.
On the third morning, we drove north 20 mins to see them.
The excited squeals from the kids (and me!) as we spotted the first,
the second...the third and fourth.
Pulling into a field on the side of the road,
we realised we had stumbled across one of the fields they were flying directly over.
We stood there, in the crisp early morning air, as 14 balloons floated above us.

I look forward to this weekend all year,
wondering if the weather is going to be good for the balloons to fly.
This year, it was oh so perfect.
Thank you, to the weather fairies, and to the pilots, for bringing magic to our skies.
We are one very happy family,
who will remember and talk about this weekend for a very long time.

A new day...

I was a bit of a whinger yesterday wasn't I?  ;)
I must admit to thinking twice before hitting the publish button, but sometimes I feel like us bloggers only share a little bit of ourselves, the happy, everything is wonderful part of life.  And yes, that is mostly what I want to have in this space - the things that make me feel good, but sometimes it's good just to let it out.

Anyway, moving along!  Today is great.  Freezing, but good.  Today my test prints from my new lab arrived, and they are perfect!  So now I am sussing out the postal rates with NZ Post, and fingers crossed by the weekend I will be back in business!  It is such a great feeling.  This little business is more than a business, it is a part of me, and not having it as a part of my daily life...well, I haven't liked it.  Not at all.  So yah for today and a new lab!  And yah for the thought of bue skies and sunshine in a few days when this stormy freezing weather passes!

Quite a few

Happy Easter!  We are back from our holiday to New Zealand, we all had the most amazing time catching up with family and friends and all things kiwi.  Every day I was snapping a polaroid where I could....we frequently stopped the car as the daily blue skies and brilliant autumn colours where just too perfect to pass by without capturing.  When the 680 died back in February I knew I had to replace it with another polaroid before this trip - and I hope you agree that autumn in the country is beautifully dreamy as seen through Sonny's viewfinder....

I have quite a few (hmmm, make that QUITE a few) more to scan,
so will be adding a few each day to the shops, both Etsy and Madeit are open again....
now back to scanning and eating Easter chocolate I go.....
